Learn about the schlocky brushes I used to use, and the wonderful natural boar bristle brush I use now.
For years I bought my brushes at drug stores like Rite Aid and CVS, or large big-box stores like Target and Walmart.
They were plastic and wire. Often with little plastic nubby things on the ends – presumably to make the brush better.
Never expensive, always cheap, probably made in China.
And then I met … the natural bristle hair brush.
A Natural Bristle Hair Brush
I finally caught on that a natural bristle brush is what is best for my scalp and my hair. (Notice I said scalp – learning to care for my scalp as well as my hair is another adventure I’ve been on).
My sister-in-law is a hair dresser and said “oh yes, you should only ever use a natural bristle brush.” So she knew it all these years but I sure did not.
I learned about natural bristle brushes from Morrocco Method’s website. And I bought my first natural bristle brush from them. I’m still using the same brush today and I highly recommend their product.

The Brush I Use
The product is quality and comes from an American company. It will last you a long time. They teach you on their website how to clean and care for your brush, how to properly brush your hair (yup, there’s a technique and it’s very easy to learn), and the benefits of using a natural bristle brush for your hair and your scalp (cuz remember the scalp counts too!).
This post does not include affiliate links. This is the actual brush I like to use. I’m not endorsing their product specifically – there are lots of places you can get quality brushes from. Definitely ask the person who cuts your hair – because then you’ll be benefiting a small business!
Happy Brushing!
