People ask me often:
- Who do I learn from?
- Who do I buy from?
- What people do I “follow”?
In this post I’m going to feature the people I’m paying attention to. As time allows I’ll write more about each person, what I’ve learned from them, why I listen to them, etc.
My goals for this post are to give you a springboard. I’ll clue you in to what I’m thinking about when I learn from people. The purpose is not for you to follow these specific people. These people speak to me, but I fully expect you will find others who speak better to you. This list is a good place to start, and you can build from there.
I do want to say that by listing these people here it does not mean I “endorse” them. I agree with some of what they say, and likely not everything they say. Use your mind. Be discerning. Listen to that small voice that raises a little flag in your brain and asks a question. Be comfortable taking breaks from “following” people. Or walking away from them completely.
Lastly, I am very careful about trying to listen to too many people at one time. I used to love being on social media, and following a bunch of accounts to grow my knowledge. What I discovered was that approach did not work at all for me. It might be good for others, but definitely not for me. Partly because I was not choosing what to work on and explore – it was a feed of topics coming at me, all selected by an algorithm somewhere.
These days I’m extremely protective of this sort of “following” behavior. I left social media and I unsubscribed from nearly every email list I was on. There are just a few people who I still receive email from. Their content meets my criteria. I find them to be positive, and I never find myself feeling “less than” after reading what they write.
How The List is Organized
Each person is listed with 1-2 sentences about who they are and what they do. I include links to the items I use to learn from them. This could be their website, books they’ve written, a video platform, possibly social media.
I’ll write expanded articles about each person as time allows. In the meantime this list will get you started. It’s in alphabetical order by the person’s last name.
Lauren Geertsen
You’ll find Lauren in various places and under various names on the web and in books. Ladies, she has some wonderful thinking about how we think about ourselves, our bodies, our clothes, our fitness – you name it. Read her book The Invisible Corset and you might find yourself shifting some negative thoughts you didn’t even realize you had.
Dr. Laura Koniver, MD aka the Intuition Physician
Dr. Laura runs a blog and shop called Intuition Physician. What I love is that she marries the best of traditional Western medicine with holistic health and embracing our intuition.
She’s quite careful in her assessment of the research and she brings her readers along with her, helping us to understand why a particular research article may be valuable to us.
She makes a wealth of wonderful products – many you can use for grounding and shielding. EVERYTHING I have ever purchased from Dr. Laura is used all the time in my household. The prices are higher than what you may find elsewhere – that is because she is a stickler for natural materials and the items are made here, in the USA, often by Laura herself.
Ways to connect with Dr. Laura’s information:
Visit her website to learn from her extensive collection of articles, https://www.intuition-physician.com/.
Link to her shop from her website. She sells grounding and shielding products, e-books (many are free), art, and online courses.
I enjoy her weekly emails. In fact, her emails are one of the very few I still received. One of my recent wellness adventures has been something I call “subtracting”. I have been “subtracting” many things from my life – to see if I find better wellness, to see how subtracting the items effects me. As part of that adventure I unsubscribed from nearly every email marketing list I was on. I’m only on about 10 lists now, and Dr. Laura’s list is one that I kept. Sign up on her website.
Dr. Sean O’Mara, MD, JD
I try to start each day watching a minute or so of Dr. Sean. He has great Instagram posts. Usually daily. Very motivating. Watching him daily helps me stay on track with my wellness adventures that relate to what I’m eating.
