What Are Wellness Adventures?
Do you want to be healthy? To be “well”? Me too.
I’m wanted wellness for all of my adult life.
If I look around me I get the feeling that we are all chasing wellness. You can see it in so many places – TV shows, advertisements, magazine articles, products, and services.
I’ve been chasing wellness for decades. I’ve had the good fortune to find it in some ways for myself.
As I’ve been on this journey I’ve made some wonderful discoveries. Things that changed my life. And each time that happened I wanted to tell the world all about it!
Over time I was chasing different things that I defined as “wellness” – a certain weight, or a certain size, or a certain fitness accomplishment. I wanted to write about these things. To share what I found. But I just came off as “preachy” and “know-it-all” – when I definitely was neither.
Then one day, after an illness, I had a lightbulb moment. I realized that my quest for wellness didn’t have to be work or a job. It didn’t begin or end with any specific accomplishment. I didn’t need to reach my goals in any specific time frame (think “six weeks to bikini body”!).
Instead I could reframe my journey – I could make it an adventure! Something that was fun, something that was an exploration, something with discoveries, something that would go on always.
I still want to write about what I discover :). Thus I’ve created this site for my friends, family, and for you, my readers. I’m writing here about my own wellness adventures. With the hope that along the way you’ll find support for your adventures in wellness!
What This Website IS
This website chronicles MY wellness adventures. It tells the stories of what I discover for MYSELF, of what works for ME.
In particular my quest is to discover wellness strategies that are:
- simple
- effective (aka they gotta work!)
- accessible (meaning most people can get them – not too expensive, not from far away, accessible to different people)
- achievable (most of us can actually DO these things)
The wellness strategies that I discover need to be all these things for me.
My hope is these wellness strategies will be somewhat universal. I want them to work for all or most people. I recognize they may or may not – because we are not all the same. Which brings me to this next point …
What This Website Is NOT
This website is not here to tell you what to do.
Remember that you are unique. You live in a different place than I do, you were raised differently than me, you eat different foods, have a different culture. And the list goes on and on about all the amazing ways that you are a unique person.
Your wellness adventures could be similar to mine. Or they could be different.
While I am interested in wellness that works for everyone, and in wellness strategies that are simple, affordable, and achievable for most of us – the truth is that you MUST seek out for yourself what will work for you.
